“There’s a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful. It’s women are strong.” – Laura Staove Harm
We are living in a time where women have never felt more empowered to take on the world, to go after their wildest dreams, leave their mark on this earth; Yet when it comes to childbirth all that goes out the window.
Mention that you plan to have a natural birth and women look at you like you’re crazy.
“I could NEVER!”
“Why would you want to put yourself through that?!”
“No thanks gimme the epidural!”
So many of us go into childbirth with fear and distrust of our own bodies. When did this distrust begin? Why are we so hesitant in trusting that our bodies know how to perform its biological function…ESPECIALLY in today’s “hear me roar” age.
It’s time that we women take that empowered mindset and begin to believe in ourselves again and the remarkable things we have been designed for. Experiencing what your body can do and what your body is capable of is truly extraordinary.
With that being said, you have to do what’s right for you. At the end of the day what matter’s most is that both baby and mama are healthy. I just ask of all the soon to be mama’s out there to go into your pregnancy with appreciation of what your body can create AND endure.
